Addressing the lack of places in pre-school and pre-school institutions in Vilnius, Vilnius City Municipality since 2015 pays monthly compensations to those who chose to allow children to enter private kindergartens operating in Vilnius City (according to August 2025, the amount of compensation is 120 euros). Compensation shall be granted if one of the child's parents (guardians) declares his place of residence in the territory of Vilnius municipality and is paid directly to a non-state educational institution. The package publishes monthly compensation reports by educational institution and reference month from 2018. The number of rejected, pending and approved compensation claims is also indicated.
