Data Set of Permanent Population in 2021 with Different Residence declared and determined at the time of Census The data set includes residents residing in Lithuania at the beginning of 2021 whose declared place of residence in the Population Register (1 January 2021) differed from the place of residence established at the time of the 2021 census. 383 346 permanent residents were identified and their declared place of residence was not identical at the time of the census. In order to ensure data confidentiality, both the declared and the census residence are aggregated to hexagonal cells with a border of 700 metres. Each person shall be provided with the coordinates of both cell centres. The data is presented in one table, each row corresponding to one inhabitant. The table shows both cells which include the person's declared place of residence (according to the Population Register) and the place determined at the time of census, as well as additional demographic characteristics and municipal identification by cell centres. Due to confidentiality, part of the population's age values are noisy – randomly adjusted within ± 1 year range. Purpose of use This dataset allows us to analyse discrepancies between the declared and the actual place of residence. Data may be used for: • assessing the extent of the inaccuracy of the declaration of residence, • identifying areas where residents often do not live where they have declared their place of residence, • identifying clusters where there is often a discrepancy between declared and actual residence, • analysing trends where the declared place of residence is usually located in another municipality.
