Public Institution Lithuanian Agricultural Advisory Service
The organization has been creating and developing a nationwide agricultural advisory system for the third decade. During the agricultural reform, production in animal husbandry and crop farming declined significantly. This was also influenced by the fact that, instead of large farms, many smaller agricultural producers emerged, whom research and training institutions were unable to assist. Many citizens without agricultural education obtained land ownership rights and began farming; a considerable proportion of rural residents lacked the knowledge to develop a modern farm profitably. Therefore the organization provides its clients (farmers) with comprehensive accounting, business economics, crop production, animal husbandry, forestry, occupational safety and fire safety services, offers consultations, and conducts training. The organization, which has 46 district and municipal offices, currently has more than 400 employees.
