The state enterprise insures the deposits of bank and credit union depositors and the obligations to investors of banks, financial brokerage companies (FMĮ) and management companies authorized to provide investment services. The enterprise began insuring obligations to investors in mid-2002. The enterprise insures deposits in all currencies, as well as obligations to return financial instruments and/or funds to investors in all currencies. The objects of insurance and the exceptions to insurance coverage are provided for in the Law on the Insurance of Deposits and Investor Compensation of the Republic of Lithuania.
