The organization exercises the executive power in Lithuania. The organization consists of the Cabinet of Ministers: the Prime Minister and fourteen ministers. There are 14 ministries in Lithuania, operating in areas such as environment, economy and innovations, energy, finance, national defence, culture, social security and labour, transport, health care, education, science and sport, justice, foreign affairs, interior, and agriculture. The organization manages state affairs, safeguards the territorial integrity of the Republic of Lithuania, and guarantees state security and public order. It establishes diplomatic relations and maintains relations with foreign states and international organizations. The organization implements laws and Seimas resolutions on the implementation of laws, as well as decrees of the President of the Republic. It coordinates the activities of ministries and other government institutions. The organization prepares the draft state budget and submits it to the Seimas; executes the state budget and submits to the Seimas a report on the execution of the budget. The organization prepares and submits draft laws to the Seimas for consideration.
