Organization – an executive authority that participates in formulating state policy in the field of document and archive management and use and implements it. The organization also participates in formulating European Union policy in the field of document and archive management and use, ensures the implementation in Lithuania of European Union legal acts in that field, regulates the administration of documents and archives within the scope of state governance, issues coordination opinions on draft legal acts related to archives and document management policy prepared by other state institutions and agencies, supervises the administration of the National Document Fund, develops a uniform document management practice in state and municipal institutions, agencies and enterprises, resolves issues concerning the transfer of operational documents of state and municipal institutions, agencies and enterprises, and coordinates the collection, preservation and use of cinematic heritage.
