State Service for Protected Areas under the Ministry of Environment
The organization is an institution that implements state policy and strategy in the protection and management of protected areas and performs state management functions for protected areas; the directorates of state parks and reserves subordinate to the organization are responsible for the protection and management of landscape, natural and cultural values, for creating conditions for the development of interpretive tourism, and for environmental education in 3 state reserves, a biosphere reserve, 4 national parks and 28 regional parks; the organization and the protected area directorates also carry out research and inventories of state reserves and of potential Natura 2000 sites of the European network of protected areas, and organize the preparation of territorial planning documents.
