Coordinates and implements state supervision and control of radiation safety and conducts assessment and expert evaluation of population exposure. Participates in shaping the state's radiation safety policy. Maintains the State register of sources of ionizing radiation and of workers exposed to radiation, authorizes justified activities involving these sources and oversees radiation safety of authorized activities, manages radiological accidents that occur and participates in eliminating their consequences, within its competence and in the manner determined by the Government participates in managing nuclear accidents and eliminating their consequences, organizes and participates in preparing radiological and nuclear accident exercises, and ensures round-the-clock monitoring of early radiological hazard and warning about it.
