The organization was established in 2005 to create a coherent and sustainable waste management system in the Kaunas region. The organization's shareholders are the six municipalities of Kaunas County (Kaunas City, Kaunas District, Kaišiadorys, Jonava, Kėdainiai, Raseiniai). The organization's main activities are regional waste management within Kaunas County, operation of landfills (Lapių Regional Landfill, Zabieliškis Landfill), collection and processing of secondary raw materials, and the collection and management of packaging and packaging waste.
