The organization is a budgetary institution under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania that implements state policy in the areas of governance entrusted to the Minister of Culture. It selects and awards funding for organizations' applications and creators' scholarships through competitions and invests state funds in the development of the arts and in the diversity and dissemination of cultural practices in Lithuania and abroad. The organization ensures the administration and monitoring of funded projects and, together with various partners, conducts large-scale cultural research.
