The organization monitors the implementation of international legal acts, submits reports, organizes visits by representatives of international organizations and international conferences, announces competitions to finance cultural projects of national minorities, establishes and awards prizes for these projects and for national minority competitions, and participates in shaping and implementing national minority policy that guarantees the satisfaction of the lawful interests and needs of residents of the Republic of Lithuania belonging to national minorities and the preservation of national identity.
